Planters Punch

Although there is an urban legend that Planter’s Punch was created at the Planters Hotel in Charleston, SC, it is far more likely that the original recipe came from Jamaica, and used aged Jamaican rum. Many variations on the recipe have emerged over the years, with orange and pineapple juice replacing the lime from the original. This cocktail is likely the source of the ratio of sweet to sour to spirit that forms the basis of many tiki drinks.
